Shooter of Ahsan Iqbal remanded in police custody for ten days

Ahsan Iqbal is receiving treatment in Lahore's Services Hospital.

GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Gujranwala Division has handed over Abid Hussain—the assailant who fired bullets at Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal—to police on 10-day physical remand, reported Dunya News on Monday.

As per details garnered, police brought main accused in the court under stern security arrangements and pleaded for 14-day remand citing reason that police wanted to probe about the facilitators from Abid Hussain. Upon this, court granted 10-day remand to police.

Ahsan Iqbal—who was shot in the arm by 22-year-old assailant—was brought to Lahore from Narowal in a chopper. The bullet penetrated into Iqbal’s stomach after fracturing two bones of right arm.

The assailant—later identified as Abid Hussai—was nabbed by law enforcement agencies and was shifted to local police station for further interrogation.
