Misogynistic remarks: Opposition stages walk out as Sanaullah refuses to apologize in PA

Rana Sanaullah turned down the requirement saying that he had already taken back his words in media.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Opposition staged a walk out from the Punjab Assembly on Friday after Law Minister Rana Sanaullah refused to apologize in the House over his misogynistic remarks about female PTI members.

During the session, the opposition demanded that Sanaullah should take back his words and tender an apology in the assembly.

Rana Sanaullah turned down the requirement saying that he had already taken back his words in the media where he gave the statement.

“The remarks were not uttered in the assembly therefore; an apology is not necessary in the House,” he added.

“It is a good sign that the words were reversed on the media but Sanaullah should also apologize in the assembly. His stature will not be lowered from this act,” said opposition leader Mehmoodur Rasheed.

The law minister however; remained adamant and did not bend down to the demand.

Following this, government and opposition members while creating a ruckus in the assembly raised slogans against each other.
In a show of protest, the opposition also walked out of the Punjab assembly. 


PML-N lawmakers’ misogynistic remarks


A day after Imran Khan’s rally in Lahore, Sanaullah said, “Women who participated in the rally were not from honourable families as their dances showed where they were from.”

PML-N leader Abid Sher Ali also made insulting remarks about PTI’s Shireen Mazari during his address in Faisalabad.

Taking to Twitter, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan strongly condemned ‘filthy language’ used by the PML-N leaders.
