Opposition stages a walkout of House

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – All hell broke loose at the National Assembly during the budget session on Friday as Murad Saeed of the PTI accosted Abid Sher Ali of the ruling PML-N.

A rumpus ensued in the assembly as the opposition benches and the government exchanged harsh words.

Opposition walked out of the House, saying that an “un-elected” official has no right to present the budget. They were referring to Miftah Ismail, who took oath as the finance minister earlier in the day. Opposition members chanted “Go Miftah Go” and “Respect the Vote” slogans.

PTI’s Shireen Mazari and several other opposition members gathered around the dais of the finance minister and tore budget copies. Seeing the situation, several PML-N members, including Abid Sher Ali, Rana Tanvir and Riaz Malik made a human shield to cover the finance minister.

However, the finance minister continued his budget speech amid uproar. Opposition leader Khurshid Shah led the walkout. The MQM-P members didn’t join opposition members in the walkout.

Later, opposition members joined the session after Sheikh Aftab pacified the on the instructions of the speaker.
