Six policemen martyred, 15 injured in Quetta suicide bombing: ISPR

QUETTA (Dunya News) – At least six policemen were martyred while 15 other sustained injuries as suicide bomber set off explosives in his vest near police van at Airport Road in Quetta, reported Inter-Service Public Relations on Tuesday.

The first suicide bomber blew himself up outside a paramilitary frontier corps checkpost in the outskirts of Quetta city after he was spotted by the guards," Ghulam Ali Baloch, home secretary of Balochistan told AFP.

"Just in the next moments, another bomber who was covering the first attacker exchanged fire with the security forces and later blew himself up."

Some eight paramilitary officials were wounded in this attack, he said.

Around half an hour later a third bomber drove his motorcycle into a police truck on a road leading to the airport, killing at least six policemen, Baloch added.

 


 


As per details, all injured have been shifted to Quetta Chief Military Hospital (CMH). Sources say situation of two injured is critical.

Bomb disposal squad and rescue teams rushed to blast site whereas law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and search operation was underway.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned terrorist attacks on security personnel in Quetta.
