Alleged rapist of slain 6-year-old from Dunyapur held
Police held a relative of late Asma who confessed to the crime during interrogation.
LODHRAN (Dunya News) – Suspect in six-year-old girl’s rape case was nabbed on Sunday who turned out to be a relative of the victim.
The rape case that was reported on Saturday in Dunyapur area of Lodhran has seen a development today as police held a relative of late Asma who confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Deputy Police Officer (DPO) said that the suspect had buried body of the six-year-old within his house for two days after he raped and murdered her. During a press conference that was addressed by the police official was taken part in by bereaved father of the slain girl among others.
The arrest came today a day after police launched a probe following recovery of the body is a pond.
Earlier on Saturday, DPO Ameer Taimur said that initial medical report has confirmed rape with the girl.
The incident came after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) recently handed four death sentences to Imran Ali, a man charged with raping and murdering seven-year-old girl, in a case that shocked the country and sparked major riots in his home district.
The 24-year-old man was on trial for killing Zainab Fatima Ameen in the eastern city of Kasur last month.
He faces further charges in the cases of at least seven other children attacked in the Punjab city -- five of whom were murdered -- in a spate of assaults that had stoked fears a serial child killer was on the loose. He has confessed to all eight attacks, including the death of Zainab.
