PIA plane forced to land in Indonesia

Indonesian fighter jets on Monday forced a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane to land after it had entered the Indonesian air space without authorisation.

PIA spokesman Tajwar Mashood said that the aircraft was chartered by the United Nations peacekeepers in East Timor and might have strayed off the course due to bad weather.Indonesian Air Force Chief Agus Supriatna said that Boeing 737-300, with 54 people aboard, landed at the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi province. He said that it would be allowed to leave after arranging necessary documents.The spokesman said that the Pakistani Embassy in Indonesia had been informed about the forced landing of the PIA plane.
