The victims had no chance to retaliate, said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Quetta Razzaq Cheema, adding that they recovered 108 Kalashnikov bullet cases from the site. "We suspect the attackers were at least four people who came on two motorbikes," he said.

Soon after the attack, police and law enforcement agencies arrived at the crime scene and cordoned off the area. Security was tightened while a search operation was initiated to nab the culprits.

Initial investigation suggests that a 9mm pistol and kalashnikov were used in the attack. Further probe has also begun after collecting empty shells and other evidence from the location.

On February 3, a suicide bomber killed 11 soldiers in an attack on an army camp in the Swat Valley in the northwest, with the Pakistani Taliban claiming responsibility.
