Asma's cousin confesses to killing her, says KP police
Asma's dead body was found from sugarcane fields near her home on January 15 after rape.
MARDAN (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Inspector-General Salahuddin Mehsud and RPO Mardan held a media briefing on Wednesday in which it was told that four-year-old Asma was killed by her own cousin and the suspect has confessed to his crime.
Mardan RPO revealed that Asma’s cousin, Muhammad Nabi, is a 15-year-old boy who works at a restaurant. He tried to rape the minor girl but she started screaming and the accused choked her to death.
The suspect also informed about his wicked activity to one of his coworkers. Both persons were arrested on Tuesday by KP police after receiving forensic report form Punjab government. The DNA sample of the offender had matched.

Salahuddin Mehsud seemed satisfied over police’s performance and said the case was solved in 25 days. While praising KP police, he said the authorities try to solve sensitive cases like these as soon as possible.
KP IG quoted the Haripur incident which was resolved in three days. He maintained that some cases continue for months and years even in developed countries.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police will present both suspects before the court today.
Member of JIT in Asma case unearthed that the accused lives near Asma’s residence. Both suspects had been transferred to an unknown location for interrogation on Tuesday.

Let it be known that 145 DNA samples were collected within 2-3 kilometers radius of Asma’s residence in Mardan, and 750 people were interrogated. The final report of the case will be sent to the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan along with KP government and government of Pakistan.

The four-year-old had gone missing on January 14 in Mardan’s Gujar Garhi area, and her dead body was found from sugarcane fields near her home on January 15 after rape.
Kohat’s Asma Rani
Salahuddin Mehsud also told in his media briefing that two persons involved in murder of Kohat’s Asma Rani have been arrested, and further development will be made soon.
Mujahidullah, nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) district president Aftab Alam, reportedly shot dead Asma after his marriage proposal was turned down.
Asma had received three bullets and was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. She had come home to meet her family in Kohat during session break.
Late Asma recorded a statement at the hospital with the police in which she identified Mujahidullah Afridi as the man who fired at her.
Mujahidullah Afridi has fled to Dubai and KP Police have claimed that he will be detained soon.
