ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court on Friday has allowed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to record statements of the foreign witnesses via video link in Avenfield reference against Sharif family.

Announcing the reserved verdict, Justice Mohammad Bashir has directed to approach Robert Radley and Raja Akhtar through video linking.

During the hearing, lawyer of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz also submitted their exemption pleas for today, assuring that his clients will appear in next proceeding.

NAB prosecutor said that video linking was allowed in the case of state of Maharashtra and Dr. Praful B. Desai over which, lawyer Amjad Pervez said that in this case, commission was permitted to record statements through video link.

Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing till February 6.

Previously, the court had rejected Nawaz Sharif’s plea against NAB supplementary reference and summoned five witnesses of the prosecution regarding supplementary reference. He had also directed to record the statements of the witnesses living abroad via video link.

Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris raised objection over the supplementary reference, saying that it was filed by keeping in view Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report.

NAB team argued that the supplementary reference supports old allegations and that there is nothing new in it.
