The Punjab government also opened an investigation into whether suspect arrested in the slaying of minor girls in Kasur was linked to an international child-porn ring.

A notification issued by the Punjab Home Department added two members to the existing JIT investigating the case, in light of new revelations. The two new members would be a senior officer of the State Bank of Pakistan and a director of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA).

The development came days after suspect Imran Ali was arrested in connection with the rape and killing of 7-year-old Zainab. The victim was assaulted and her body thrown in a garbage dump in the city of Kasur early this month.
