KARACHI (Dunya News) – Investigation authorities landed in a state of confusion after former SSP Malir Rao Anwar’s location was traced at two different places at the same time.

The encounter specialist has become a challenge for the Sindh police who are in a bid to arrest him over involvement in the alleged encounter of Naqeebullah Mehsud.

Investigation sources say that Anwar has two numbers in his use which are registered in the name of Khair Muhammad and Ehsanullah. On January 22, one of the numbers was traced at Jamshoro Kotri while the other was showing his location in Rawalpindi.

The sources claim that modern technology has been utilized to hide the mobile location. However; after continuous efforts, Anwar’s final location has been traced in Islamabad.

A special team will depart for Islamabad on the basis of technical support to detain Anwar. Police has completed all the legal requirements for the arrest while hopes are high that the suspects will be captured soon.

On the other hand, Rao Anwar has demanded to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in the case.

He says that some of the officers who registered the case have personal animosity against him. Anwar termed the notion wrong that he conducted the encounter in personal capacity.

He maintains that the officers who are giving statements against him are not themselves clean too.

“Additional IG CTD and other officers should tell how many successful operations did the conducted. How many police personnel were injured and killed during CTD operations?” he asked.

Anwar maintained that murderers will walk free if false cases are formed.

Six scrap dealers arrested

Widening the investigation scope, police has arrested at least six scrap dealers from Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area.

It has been revealed that equipment for empty houses, used during encounters, was bought from the scrap market so that they can be proved as the possible residences of alleged terrorists.

The shopkeepers were detained over the identification of Naz Mir alias Nazuk. They are being investigated about the old furniture, utensils and different types of household items provided to the police.

Sources say that some of the front men and police personnel have also been arrested over the recognition of the shopkeepers.
