(Web Desk) – The latest spell of rain and snowfall has intensified the cold weather in different parts of country.

The spell which started this Monday dropped temperatures not just in Islamabad and Lahore, where the skies poured all day long but also in Murree, Galyat, Shigar and Malam Jabba – areas which received snowfall. Rain also lashed across Swat and Mansehra. The rain and snowfall continued in upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Tuesday, as mercury dropped to minus 7 degree centigrade.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), more rain-thunderstorm with snowfall is expected at scattered places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper FATA, and upper Punjab including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Sargodha divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and at isolated places in Faisalabad, Sahiwal and Kohat divisions.

The drop in temperatures has also hurt mobility with road links to Deosai being cut off due to heavy snow. Shangrila has been cut off due to roads being closed following snowfall, leaving local communities confined to their homes.
