Zardari demands resignations of Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sana after Tahirul Qadri meeting

The ex-President and PPP Co-chairman expressed full support with the victims of Model Town incident

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Asif Ali Zardari, on behalf of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has demanded of immediate resignation of Shehbaz Sharif as well as Rana Sanaullah after the Model Town incident report made public.

“We will not tolerate Shehbaz Sharif anymore,” he said in a joint press conference with Tahirul Qadri, warning to hit the roads for protests against the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The former President said PPP will carry out protests if Shehbaz Sharif doesn’t resign. “Democracy is not what the Sharifs are doing,” he said. Zardari told that his companionship with Qadri dates back to the Benazir Bhutto government. He also hinted at a political alliance with PAT in the coming future.

On the other hand, Tahirul Qadri stated that murderers and those who planned the massacre have been exposed in the Justice Baqir Najfi commission report. He promised to support the victims as well as the protest calls given by PAT. He reaffirmed the involvement of then PM Nawaz Sharif in the incident.

"PAT will take every necessary step to ensure justice if those responsible didn t resign," he added.

Earlier, he arrived at the Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat with the other party members and met the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief. Zardari expressed solidarity with the martyrs and families of victims in Model Town tragedy.
