Peshawar: Sports festival held for the differently abled

(Dunya News) – Physical disability is a natural impairment, but if overcome with determination and strength, it can never be a hindrance to success. One such festival was recently held in Peshawar where people were seen conquering any disability that stood in their way to achieve more.

Organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Friends of Paraplegics, more than 400 disabled persons from all across the province participated in the Ability Sports Festival.

Demonstrating their skills, the participants along with stalls by different organisations working for the welfare of disabled people, added to the colours of the festival.

The festival also featured a 10-over wheelchair cricket match between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zalmi and FATA Zalmi, in which the KP Zalmi stood victorious.

Being the first ability festival on such a scale, the event provided the disabled persons an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents.

The performances by the youngsters at the Ability Sports Festival were a proof of the fact that if one is high spirited, no physical disability can defeat him or her.
