Executing Sindh Apex Committee’s orders, the Interior Ministry of Sindh has completed the processes of geo-tagging madrassas across the province.

According to the Interior Ministry’s registration report, 10,303 madrassas across Sindh were scrutinised, out of which 2,309 illegal seminaries were shutdown.

While 97 madrassas were discovered to be involved in suspicious activities, 57 such institutions were shut down by the Interior Ministry.

The report further revealed that the 7,444 registered madrassas of Sindh are schooling 547,695 students. Among the five hundred thousand students, more than eight hundred are foreigners.

A new law regarding the registration of madrassas has also been introduced in Sindh. According to the newly imposed rule, a no objection certificate (NOC) by the Interior Ministry of Sindh and the Deputy Commissioner will be compulsory in order to register a new madrassa.
