Educational institutions reopen across Punjab

Public has been directed to use alternative routes to schools where sit-ins are still continued.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – All the private and government educational institutions across the Punjab province have reopened on Wednesday after remaining shut for two days due to Tehreek-e-Labbaik protests.

Punjab’s Education Secretary Dr Allah Baksh Malik announced on Tuesday that all schools in Punjab will be reopened and directed the public to use alternative routes to schools where sit-ins are still continued.

While citing the reason for shutting down schools for two days in the first place, he said the schools were closed because state was going through a sensitive situation of deadlock and roads were utterly blocked due to Faizabad sit-in and ensuing chaos caused by the protesters countrywide.

The Faizabad sit-in ended after Khadim Hussain Rizvi made an agreement with the government as the federal government agreed to their terms and demands.

However, right-wing movements have continued sit-in protest outside Punjab Assembly while demanding the resignation of Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah, despite leaders of religious parties calling off Faizabad sit-in after 22 days of agitation.

Local leaders of allegedly religiously moved protesters have expressed reservations over the agreement signed between the federal government and chief of Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA) and announced to continue protest outside the assembly.

Chairman of TLYRA Ashraf Asif Jalali has expressed serious concerns over the agreement and has warned to continue the agitation until demands of the rightist group are met.
