Four killed as powerful explosion rocks Quetta's Saryab Road

QUETTA (Dunya News) – At least four people have been killed while 10 others sustained severe wounds as a powerful blast on Saturday targeted Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle near bus stand at Saryab Road in Quetta.

The attacker, whose body parts have been recovered, was wearing suicide vest, confirmed Deputy Inspector General Abdur Razzaq Cheema.

Arriving at the explosion site, rescue teams shifted the victims to the hospitals. The officers said that more causalities feared as the blast was also heard in far flung areas.



The security forces have cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bhugti inspected the area and said that the security personnel are being punished for protecting the nation. Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri and Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai also condemned the attack.



Earlier, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Hamid Shakeel Durrani among three officers embraced martyrdom in a suicide blast in Quetta’s Chaman Housing Scheme. The blast occurred when AIG Hamid was going to office from his house.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ramzan and driver Jalil Ahmed also lost their lives while nine other officers sustained severe wounds in the explosion.

Two police vans and motorcycles also got damaged in the blast.
