CM ordered dismissal of DSP, SHO and ASI of the relevant police circle involved in the incident

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has met the elderly couple who, few days ago, was manhandled by Multan police on Thursday. The CM asked 75 year old victim Muhammad Idrees and Naseem Bibi about the details of the incident and offered his sympathy and support and assured them of justice.

Afterwards, CM ordered the dismissal of the DSP, SHO and ASI of the relevant police circle who were more or less involved in the incident.

Shehbaz Sharif also directed the authorities to treat couple’s sick daughter Madiha. A committee was formed to investigate the issue which was earlier directed to present the report in seven days but later, Shehbaz Sharif directed the P & D member Babar Hayat and Board of Revenue committee’s senior member to present the report within 24 hours.

Multan police had manhandled the 75 year old elderly couple who were protesting against 5.06 canal land grab by an MDA official a few days ago.

The incident highlighted Punjab Police’s barbaric and unethical approach to handling matters. The elderly couple was dragged on the road and was thrown in police van like criminals.

The couple had repeatedly requested the police to not act in the manner they were acting but the SHO and other police officials didn’t pay any heed.

After the news was aired on Dunya News, RPO and CPO took notice of the incident and ordered inquiry into the matter while suspending the involved police officials till further notice.
