RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa on Thurday said Afghanistan has not co-operated as much as Pakistan to maintain security and ensure peace between the two neighbours which is "evident from the continued attacks from across the border".

General Joseph L. Votel, US Central Command (US CENTCOM) Commander, praised Pakistan’s efforts to bring peace and prosperity in Afghanistan, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, regional security situation of the neighbouring country Afghanistan came into discussion. Both military leaders discussed the Pakistan-Afghan border management strategies for the future and Pakistan’s positive contributions towards peace and stability in the region.

The Army Chief said, “Peace in Afghanistan is more important for Pakistan than any other country,” adding that Pakistan has done its best despite constraints and will continue such efforts for the sake of future and in line with aspirations of Pakistani people.

“The same was not being reciprocated as evident from the continued attacks from across the border,” he complained.

ISPR stated that the visiting dignitary appreciated and acknowledged Pak Army’s contributions and sacrifices in war against terror.
