(Dunya News) – With the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s promises of reforming the education sector still unfulfilled, students of Swat’s Boys Primary School Takhtaband have been attending their classes in a private garage for the past eight years.

Owing to the negligence of the authorities, the students of the school that lacks a proper building are forced to seek education while sitting on the floor, even in extreme weather conditions. To add to their misfortunes, a rent of Rs. 16,000 is also paid to the garage owner by the parents.

As there are no schools for young girls in the area, they are forced to study along with the students of the boys’ primary school.

But the suffering of the young students does not end here.

The absence of clean drinking water, furniture and other basic facilities for students has also made it hard for them to seek education. The ordeal of the students of the primary school is not just unsettling for them and their parents, but also leaves a question mark over the progress claims made by the provincial government.
