Accountability court to hear references against Sharif family today

Nawaz Sharif is once again out of the country and is unlikely to appear before the court.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar will appear before the accountability court today (Thursday) hearing the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) references against the Sharif family.

Earlier, Nawaz Sharif was indicted in NAB references regarding Park Lane Apartments, Al Azizia Steel Mills and offshore companies, while Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar were indicted in reference regarding Park Lane apartments alone.

Prosecution witness Sidra Mansoor will record her statement in Park Lane Apartments reference in the accountability court today. The defence lawyer will cross-examine the witness.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is once again out of the country and is unlikely to appear before the court. During previous hearings, his representative Zafir Khan appeared before the court on his behalf.

Tight security arrangements have been made for today’s hearing. At least 400 officials would be deployed for the security duties. Apart from 15 persons with Mary Nawaz, people listed in the list and media representatives will be permitted to go to court room.
