Negotiations will proceed tomorrow at 11:00 AM

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Kissan Ittehad decided to suspend the 25-hour long sit in at Thokar Niaz Baig on Tuesday after assurance by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Farmers will gather at CCPO office tomorrow at 11:00 AM and will then proceed towards CM House where they will be presenting their demands.

Talking about which, representative of the union, Chaudhry Anwar said that their demands were simple. They want the provincial government to equalize the elctricity rates of night and day and have sugar mills pay what the owners owe them.

He warned to resume the sit-in protest in case the demands are not met.

Earlier today, hundreds of farmers held a protest march toward the provincial metropolis from southern Punjab districts on late Monday demanding the release of their pending amounts worth 30 billion from sugar mills owners and subsidy on different agriculture items.

The farmers’ rally, however, was not allowed to enter the city as police placed containers at the Multan Road near Thokar Niaz Baig and blocked the road.

The roadblocks were removed today as the angry protesters hurled on them with sticks. The protesters have said that they will not end their protest until fulfillment of demands.
