Maryam expressed 'deep regret' over the incident.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif s daughter Maryam Nawaz on Friday strongly condemned the clash between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawyers and security officers while the former tried to enter in accountability courtroom.

While talking to media, Maryam expressed ‘deep regret’ over the incident and called on the interior ministry for interrogation into the matter. “The lawyers have been abused but I do not know exactly about the whole incident. They had court’s permission but still they were barred from entering courtroom. They have also been manhandled which is remorseful. I request interior ministry to conduct probe and find those responsible behind the incident,” she said.

It all happened as Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Safdar appeared before the accountability court for indictment. However; the hearing was adjourned without any proceeding till October 18 after PML-N lawyers and supporters created a racket.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also termed the clash regretful and told that investigation has been ordered in the matter.

Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali asserted that no one has a monopoly outside the court. He urged to conduct a probe to find out the person behind torture on lawyers. “This is an independent interrogation. People visit courtrooms as observers around the world and it should also be allowed in Pakistan. This is an open forum for all the people whose sanctity should be taken care of. I have seen the lawyers badly injured after the spat. This does not happens in democracy,” he said.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb was of the view that every place has a certain capacity but if the lawyers had the permit order then it should be interrogated why the incident occurred. Stopping someone is one thing but the lawyers have been tortured. Interior Ministry will look into the matter as announced and will ensure that such events do not occur in the future,” she said.
