Electoral Reforms Bill, 2017 to be tabled in NA today

Approval of bill will pave the way for sacked premier Nawaz Sharif to again become PML-N president.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The National Assembly session will start ay 5:00pm today (Monday) during which the amended Electoral Reforms Bill, 2017 will be tabled. After approval the bill will pave the way for sacked prime minister Nawaz Sharif to again become Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president. The bill has already been approved by the Senate.

Law Minister Zahid Hamid will present the bill in the assembly. President Mamnoon Hussain is expected to sign the bill the same day after approval from the National Assembly

On the other hand, PML-N Central Executive Committee meeting will be held today at 11:00am at the Punjab House, Islamabad during which the PML-N will introduce amendment to its constitution to allow a disqualified person to become the party head.

The ruling party will hold a general council session on October 3 in which elections for the new party head will take place. There is already a consensus to appoint Nawaz Sharif as the party president. The council members will vote in favour of the disqualified PM in October 3 meeting.
