COAS meets Afghan President to discuss bilateral security concerns

Pakistani delegation led by Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa met Ashraf Ghani in his presidential palace

KABUL (Dunya News) – A Pakistani military delegation led by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa met Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani in his presidential palace on Sunday to discuss bilateral security matters.

Gen Bajwa visited Afghanistan on a one-day official tour and took the flight on Sunday morning. The two countries discussed issues like mutual co-operation, security, and the recent announcement of the United States to review security policy for South Asia and Afghanistan under the administration of US President Donald Trump.

According to the official notification, both leaders suggested strong steps to manage a better future ahead. They also talked about trade agreements, anti-terrorism strategies and mutual interests.

Afghan President said that peace in his country is in the best interest of both parties, stressing the need to capitalise on available resources and opportunities. The Pakistani delegation assured to carry out steps for the spread of peace and expressed their strong determination.
