References were filed to registrar after removing objections raised by accountability court earlier

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed three references to the registrar of accountability court against Sharif family after removing the objections raised earlier.

The references were not only against ex-PM Nawaz Sharif and his children but also named Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in corruption cases. NAB court has summoned the former premier and his sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz on September 19.

For the four references, NAB appointed Sohail Arif, Imran Shafiq, Muhammad Asghar and Fazal Qureshi as prosecutors. Summons to Sharif family were issued after scrutiny of corruption references. They were received by the Sharifs at their Jati Umra address in Lahore.

These summons asked Nawaz Sharif and his children to appear before the accountability court on September 19 and answer the allegations against them.

Earlier today, NAB’s prosecution team arrived at the court along with the Flagship Investment reference’s documents. Justice Mohammad Bashir conducted the hearing after proper scrutiny of the evidence. The former PM and his sons have been nominated as accused in the reference that deals with the ownership of 16 offshore companies.

NAB filed references in the court on the orders of Supreme Court in Panama case verdict. These references raise corruption allegations against Sharif family regarding Al-Azizia Steel Mills, London flats and 16 offshore companies. The top court had ruled disqualification of Nawaz Sharif in Panama case verdict on the basis of his non-withdrawn salary, considering it part of his assets, on July 28.
