Nation celebrates Air Force Day with patriotic spirit

PAF contingent paid homage to Rashid Minhas for his sacrifice.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The whole nation is celebrating Air Force Day on Thursday with patriotic spirit, and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent paid homage to Rashid Minhas, an under training pilot, who gave his life for the defense of this country.

Air Officer Commanding Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Haseeb Paracha laid a wreath of flowers on the grave of Rashid Minhas, and offered Fateha. Minhas was also honored with Pakistan Army’s most prestigious award, the Nishaan-e-Haider for his great sacrifice.




On the other hand, ceremonies are being held across the country to celebrate the day and to honor the sacrifices of national heroes. PAF also played a tremendous role in 1965 war when India attacked Pakistan on September 6.





Pakistan Air Force destroyed 129 fighter planes of India, whereas, only 19 of its aircrafts were damaged. M M Alam created history by demolishing five fighter jets in just one minute, and wrecked nine planes in total during the war the lasted for 17 days.
