IHC turns down PTI's plea to shut foreign funding case in ECP

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) has turned down petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday that sought end to proceedings of case regarding foreign funding which is being heard by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Reportedly, the court stated that it was beyond high court’s jurisdiction to order ECP to shut the case. The judge issued notices to Akbar S Babar and the ECP.

Counsel for PTI observed during the hearing that it did not fall under ECP’s jurisdiction to hear foreign funding case. He urged the court to grant an injunction in the case. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani remarked that the case was being heard since 2014 and the court had already forwarded the case once to the commission.

The hearing was adjourned for an indefinite period of time.
