(Web Desk) -  A man was arrested from a village near Abbottabad after he was accused of murdering a young boy by tying him to a donkey which then dragged him to death.

The event occurred in Lora village, 80km (50 miles) south of Abbottabad.

According to BBC News, the incident began when landowner Mohammad Miskin saw that the boy, an eight-year-old named Mudassir, had let some of his animals, which included a donkey and sheep, stray on the landowner’s property.

Seeing this Mohammad got angry and tied up Mudassir to the donkey. He then made the donkey run while Mudassir got dragged behind causing the boy intense pain and injuries. Later after this terrifying ordeal Mudassir was shifted to Rural Health Centre Lora on Wednesday evening, where he unfortunately succumbed to his wounds. Mohammad was arrested by police after a protest by area residents.

Witnesses and local villagers confirmed this version of events. Witnesses also said that Mohammad deliberately beat the donkey in order to make it run faster and that it dragged the boy for nearly an hour.

Sher Afzal, Mudassir’s father said that his child had been ruthlessly murdered and instead of intervening in the matter people had instead started to search for him.

However, Mohammad Miskin has denied the allegations against him and said that he just shooed the animals away when they came on his land. Police arrested Mohammad on Wednesday and a court in Abbottabad has remanded him in custody for two days for additional investigation.

The incident received much attention from local media after the young boy s death sparked an outrage.
