LESCO record confutes govt's claims of uprooting power cuts
Company acquired only 1pc additional electricity from national grid.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Ruling party’s claims pertaining to induction of additional electricity in national grid has been impugned by Lahore Electric Supply Company’s (LESCO) record, reported Roznama Dunya on Sunday.
LESCO’s record indicated that company had acquired only 1pc additional electricity from national grid during first ten months of fiscal year 2016-17 as compared to same period of previous fiscal year.
During aforementioned period, LESCO had received 16 billion and two million units indicating an upward trajectory of just 160 million units when compared to same period of previous fiscal year during which it had received 15 billion and 830 million units. Furthermore, these additional units were acquired by power distributed company during March-2017 and April-2017.
According to details available, LESCO acquired 6 million addition units during July-2016 when compared to same period of previous year, 50 million less units during August-2016 as compared to August-2015, 40 million more in September, 20 million less in November, 40.20 million less in December, 30.50 million less again in January-2017, 50.40 million less in February-2017, 160.20 million more in March-2017 and an additional of 180 million during April-2017.
It is pertinent here to mention that countrywide protests are being observed amidst soaring load-shedding whereas federal minister for water and power Khawaja Asif has also lamented that no attention is paid either by public or government on conserving electricity; rather focus is on inauguration of new power plants on routine basis.
