PIA crew released after brief detention at London's Heathrow Airport

LONDON (Dunya News) – As many as thirteen officials of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) were detained by British police for interrogation at Heathrow Airport over alleged security threats.

PIA Spokesman Mashhood Tajwar told that the crew members of PIA flight number PK-758, coming from Islamabad, were arrested at London Airport on secret information but they were released and sent back to the hotel withholding their passports.

Meanwhile, a search operation was also conducted in the plane for over two hours after which it was cleared for takeoff from Heathrow Airport with substituted staffers as nothing suspicious was found.

PIA Spokesman said that the reason as to why the crew was detained is not yet known but the authorities are trying to handle the issue.

Earlier in February, PK-757 flight of PIA that was bound for Heathrow Airport of London from Lahore made an emergency landing at Stansted Airport over bomb-threat.
