Overall cost of OBOR has surpassed $600 billion.

BEIJING (Dunya News)- China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has further cemented the deep bonds between the Himalayan neighbors. This was evident from the love that Chinese hosts showered on their Pakistani guests during the One Belt One Road (OBOR) summit in Beijing.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif received unprecedented importance as meeting with his Chinese counterpart lasted twice longer than other leaders.

Chinese ambassadors believe that a stronger Pakistan is in their interest and ties exist between the two states instead between contemporary regimes. They further assure that Beijing stands solidly behind Islamabad. Same perception is being shared by Chinese public who greets Pakistanis with open hearts.

Earlier, Nawaz lambasted India over its CPEC-related concerns while saying that OBOR was open for all countries and mega-project shouldn’t be politicized.
“Let me make it very clear that CPEC is an economic undertaking open to all countries in the region. It has no geographical boundaries. It must not be politicised,” he said in his address at the plenary session of the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing.

Chinese President XI has vowed to invest another $124 billion in funds and termed OBOR ‘project of the century’.

It is pertinent here to mention that OBOR is China’s ambitious project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity for rapid economic growth. With announcement of another $124 billion, the overall cost of the mammoth project has surpassed $600 billion.
