A local peasant is awarded 50-100 gunny bags per day.

LAYYAH (Dunya News)- Nasir Magsi, brother of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Abbas Magsi, on Wednesday went away with 1200 gunny bags in Layyah, thus posing questions to merit-based distribution and claims of good governance.

As per details available, Nasir Magsi arrived in land cruiser at Chuobara centre and went away with 1200 gunny bags without any hurdle. Magsi violated the proposed method and quota system.

When contacted, Centre Coordinator Tahir Ali confessed to provision of gunny bags while making lame excuses that local farmers voluntarily gave away their share to Nasir Magsi.

Owing to hike in demand at various centers, a local peasant is awarded 50-100 gunny bags each day under quota system.

It should be recalled that, on May 3, Punjab chief minister s task force on wheat procurement had detected that 139,000 gunny bags were distributed to middlemen/brokers instead of peasants at the Head Warrery purchase centre. Following this development, a case was lodged against food inspector Sheikh Shaukat Mahmood and centre supervisor Mahmood Ahmad.
