Punjab govt decides to extend Rangers' powers for two months

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Government of Punjab has sent a report to the Federal Interior Ministry in regards to the performance of Rangers and their deployment.

It was in February 2017 when the apex committee Punjab decided to deploy Rangers within the province.

Soon after that, the Rangers’ contingents were deployed within Punjab for a period of sixty days.

It was decided in meeting of Punjab government’s sub-cabinet committee for law and order, to extend the powers of Rangers for a period of two months.

It is worth mentioning here that the Rangers is carrying out targeted operations alongside police and Anti-Terrorism Force, in areas specified by Punjab government.

The provincial government has contacted the federal for extension in Rangers’ powers within the province.

Officials of Interior Ministry Punjab revealed that the Rangers is working in the best way within the province as they have carried out substantial steps to eradicate terrorists and their facilitators.
