NA unanimously approves resolution condemning Mashal Khan's murder

The members of the House resolved that nobody should be allowed to take law into his hands.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – National Assembly on Tuesday has unanimously approved resolution condemning murder of Abdul Wali Khan University student Mashal Khan in Mardan.

Assembly resumed its session with Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in the chair during which Federal Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain moved the resolution and demanded the federation and provincial governments to take strict action against the perpetrators and facilitators of this heinous crime.

The members resolved that nobody should be allowed to take law into his hands and resort to condemnable act of killing someone.

“This House unanimously condemns the barbaric and cold-blooded murder of Mashal Khan and resolves to ensure that strong safeguards may be inserted into Blasphemy Law to prevent its abuse through such atrocities in future including by mobs involved in such crime,” stated the resolution adopted by the House.

On the other hand, Inspector General in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police Salahuddin Khan Mehsud has submitted report of the case in Supreme Court (SC).

According to the report, no evidence of blasphemy against Mashal Khan was found whereas 26 suspects including six university workers have been arrested so far. He said that a letter has also been written to Peshawar High Court (PHC) for judicial inquiry.

The police official also assured that assistance from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been sought for the verification of the deceased’s social media accounts.
