KP govt plans to export donkeys to China

(Web Desk) - Media reports suggest that the KP government had proposed a Rs. 1 billion project to breed and export donkeys to China. The program eyes at utilising the future prospects of CPEC.

According to the details provided on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government website, KP-China Sustainable Donkey Development Program is an initiative based upon sustainable development of donkeys in the province to export them to China in order to take advantage of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The neighbouring country uses donkey s skin to manufacture high-value medicines.

Under the proposed project by KP government, a large-scale donkey population will be developed and enhanced so as to ensure regular and uninterrupted export of the animal outside the province. It will enhance income of donkey breeders and traders in KP.

The total cost of the proposed project is Rs. 1 billion and the KP government claims that it could generate the desired level of revenues and meet its investment costs.

PTI-led government of KP plans to facilitate the investors for interaction with relevant agencies and is committed to be the partner of investor by providing all the basic facilities in the project execution. It will provide all legal and technical assistance to the investors and provide assurance of money security. Moreover, an investor friendly security situation will be created in the province.

The project aims to help socio-economic status of the communities that rear donkeys. It will do so by improving health and production of local donkeys. The project also aims to increase the population of  donkey s in KP.
