Power outages increase as electricity shortfall reaches 3,000 MW

The power demand has escalated to 14,000 Megawatts as summer season arrived.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Power outrages across the country have increased as the electricity shortfall has reached 3,000 Megawatts.

According to details, the power demand has escalated to 14,000 Megawatts as summer season arrived whereas five circles of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) are facing unannounced load shedding.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has claimed to eliminate electricity load shedding till 2018.

"By 2017-2018, there will be an end to load shedding," he said, referring to a system of rolling black-outs used to ration electricity.

The premier said that not only will load shedding come to an end but will also become cheap and accessible for the general masses.
