CAA rejects PIA's claims of clearing grounded ATR planes

KARACHI (Daily Dunya) – No ATR planes of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) operated a flight on Tuesday as they have been grounded by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

On Monday, PIA made an impression that four out of six ATR planes have been cleared however; on Tuesday CAA rejected the claims while not permitting the airline to operate the flight of any ATR.

CAA has said that the planes will not be granted permission unless their engine oil is examined through a magnetic chip detector.

According to reports, PIA was directed by the plane company at the time of the deal that engine oil should be checked regularly so that the officials had an idea of the condition of the engine’s parts.

However; PIA administration overlooked the procedure after which the ATR planes were grounded by the CAA.

Due to the grounding, PIA’s Karachi-Bahawalpur PK-588, Karachi-Rahim Yar Khan PK-582, Karachi-Sukkur PK-594, Islamabad-Multan PK-681, Islamabad-Lahore PK-653, Islamabad-Gilgit PK-605, Islamabad-Kabul PK-249 and Lahore-Multan PK-683 were cancelled.
