Senate chairman ruled against PM Nawaz's step of ending autonomy of regulatory institutes
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The chairman of Senate Raza Rabbani on Monday ruled against the step of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to merge regulatory institutes in ministries, reported Dunya News.
He called the step unconstitutional and said that the Prime Minister is exceeding from his powers. "PM Nawaz has ignored the proceeding of Council of Common Interests (CCI)", he added.
Chairman Senate said that Nawaz Sharif has taken the step without prior approval from CCI. "It is unconstitutional to make regulatory bodies as subsidiaries of ministries", he ruled.
