Punjab adopts 'shoot at sight' policy for terrorists

The apex meeting decided to expand the scope of operation against terrorists in Punjab province.

LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – Security agencies in Punjab have pulled their socks up against terrorists in the province as the directives of shooting them at sight have been issued.

On February 21, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of the provincial apex committee. Corps Commander Lahore General Sadiq and other officials were part present in the meeting.

It was decided in the meeting that the scope of operation against terrorists in Punjab will be expanded with the help of intelligence agencies to overcome the scourge of terrorism.

The attendees were also briefed that banned outfit Jaamt-ul-Ahrar is getting support from Lashkr-e-Jhangvi in Punjab as its various workers are in continuous contact.

The meeting expressed grave concern over the involvement of Afghanistan based terrorist network in Mall Road suicide blast and decided to seek paramilitary Rangers’ assistance in anti-terrorism operations.

The facilitators of suicide attackers would be taken as ‘jet black terrorists’ while action will also be launched against those who give them shelter and residence.

The movement of Afghan refugees within the province and the divisions around border will be monitored strictly.

The participants also agreed that indiscriminate action will be taken against all banned outfits and their all financial sources will be blocked.
