PIA's ATR aircrafts grounded for engine inspection

CAA DG ordered not to permit ATR flights without proper inspection of engine.

ISLAMABAD (Daily Dunya) - At least six flights were suspended as Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday grounded all ATR aircrafts on directions of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

According to details, engines were being examined after 500 hours of flight operations whereas limit set by aviation authority was 100 hours upon which CAA director ordered PIA to ground all ATR aircrafts with immediate effect.

CAA DG also ordered not to permit ATR flights without proper inspection of engine.

Last year in December 2016, 48 passengers, including renowned religious scholar Junaid Jamshed, were killed as PIA flight PK-661 crashed on its way to Islamabad from Chitral.
