KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has refuted rumours regarding Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah’s replacement.

According to PPP spokesperson, there is no plan to appoint new opposition leader in the national assembly.

The spokesperson termed reports regarding Shah’s replacement as ‘fabricated’.

Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto’s presence in the National Assembly will not affect Khurshid Shah’s post, he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Zardari announced Tuesday that both he and his son, the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, will contest elections to step into the National Assembly.

"I want to share the good news I had promised to share: Bilawal and I will contest the election now to enter this Parliament," Zardari told PPP supporters on the 9th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh near Larkana.

Zardari made the surprise announcement after returning to Pakistan on December 23 after living in Dubai for one and a half year of self-imposed exile.
