Murad Ali Shah meets Khawaja Asif, discusses electricity issues in Sindh
Both leaders pledged to complete energy-related plans in Sindh soon.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Sindh (CM) Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday met Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif and discussed electricity issue in Sindh.
According to sources, the meeting was held in Islamabad in which both leaders talked about different issues including tariff of electricity and alternative energy between federation and Sindh.
CM Sindh has demanded a direct power line from transmission lines while he also expressed reservation over neglecting projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridors (CPEC) in Sindh.
He also stressed early completion of energy plans in Sindh and urged the federal minister to continue power supply to K-Electric.
On other hand, Khawaja Asif asked Sindh CM to pay electricity arrears worth Rs 72 billion. He said that a proper strategy to resolve the issue is being prepared by experts.
He also vowed to address Sindh government‘s complaints regarding continuous power outages.
Talking to media after meeting, Khawaja Asif said as regards the up gradation of transmission system in Sindh, the whole transmission system requires up gradation which will be done in the next one and a half years.
On the ocassion, Murad Ali Shah said the local administration would utilize the renewable energy sources to produce 800 to 1000 megawatts of power in the next two years.
