Khasadar force personnel conducted raid in Jamrud area of Khyber Agency.

KHYBER AGENCY (Web Desk) – In a major development in ongoing anti-terror operations, the security forces have arrested four suspected terrorists in Jamrud area of the Khyber tribal region on Friday morning, Dunya News reported.

According to political administration, Khasadar men recovered five suicide jackets during the raid.

An official further told that the detained terrorists were planning to carry out a major attack on 14th August.

The tribal region was considered a sanctuary for local and foreign militant groups until the military launched its offensive there.

Several militants and their leadership fled across the border and are camped out in Afghan territory from where they launch attacks against Pakistani security forces and innocent civilians.

COMBING OPERATION IN RAWALPINDI

At least six militants including two key terrorist commanders were arrested last night during a combing operation in Kallar Syedan and Gujar Khan areas of Rawalpindi district.

According to the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), huge cache of arms and ammunition including prepared improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered during the action.

Combing operations are underway across the country to bust terrorist sleeper cells and eliminate hiding terrorists.

The scope of operations has been expanded after a suicide blast killed more than 70 people, most of them lawyers, at Quetta civil hospital on Monday.

Earlier on Thursday, a roadside bomb apparently targeting a judge injured at least 13 people including four police commandos in Quetta.

The bomb was planted on a bridge in the city, which went off immediately after the vehicle of the Federal Shariat Court judge passed by it.

The judge, Zahoor Shehwani, survived but the blast hit his security escort vehicle, injuring four police personnel and nine passers-by.

No group immediately claimed responsiblity for the attack.
