Load shedding, corruption, overbilling linked with sacking of LESCO, HESCO CEOs

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) were dismissed from their posts by the Ministry of Water and Power over allegations of corruption, overbilling and defects in the electricity supply system, reported Dunya News.

Sources indicate that LESCO CEO Qaiser Zaman was replaced by Technical department General Manager (GM) Chaudhary Mohammad Anwar who was given additional charge whereas HESCO CEO Akhtar Randhawa was sacked and was replaced by Asadullah Khan as CEO.

Sources indicate that both officers were removed from their posts over poor performance. LESCO CEO Qaiser Zaman’s services were also extended from May 1 onwards.

Minister of State of Water and Power Abid Sher Ali paid a surprise visit to LESCO on Monday. He received multiple complaints regarding overbilling, unannounced load shedding and corruption. Abid Sher Ali dismissed a Chief Engineer (CE) and SD keeping in view the complaints he received.

The dismissal of both officers was also linked with the deaths caused as a result of electrocution.
