LONDON (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been shifted to his room from intensive care unit (ICU) after five days of his open-heart surgery, reported on Sunday.

PM Nawaz’s daughter Maryam Nawaz posted on micro-blogging website Twitter that the premier has been moved to his room from ICU while she has also said that he is recovering speedily.

The premier had a cardiac procedure called Atrial Fibrillation Ablation in 2011, during which certain complications occurred resulting in the perforation of heart for which open-heart surgery was required.

Meanwhile, Hassan Nawaz told the media that the doctors will hold another medical checkup of Nawaz Sharif today after which the decision regarding discharging the premier from hospital will be taken.

He also thanked the nation for praying for PM’s speedy recovery and claimed that the premier would return to country before the Eid.

Nawaz Sharif has been under tremendous pressure from opposition parties to step down since his family members were named in the mass leak of offshore account data from the Panama firm Mossack Fonseca. The opposition has joined hands to hold unbiased probe into the matter.
