LONDON (Web Desk) – Daughter of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz has said that his father’s open-heart surgery is progressing fine in London’s Harley Street Clinic but the operation would take few hours more, reported on Tuesday.

Maryam Nawaz took to the micro-blogging website Twitter and thanked Allah Almighty for the successful undergoing operation of PM Nawaz while she has also thanked people by stating that: “Prayers doing miracle”.

In another tweet, Maryam Nawaz said that PM Nawaz was in high spirits when he was sent to the operation theatre at 12pm (PST) and 8am (UK) time.

Doctors said that Nawaz Sharif will be kept in intensive care unit (ICU) after the surgery while he would have to stay in hospital for further two weeks.

The premier had a cardiac procedure called Atrial Fibrillation Ablation in 2011, during which certain complications occurred resulting in the perforation of heart.

Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif has asked the nation to pray for the successful surgery and early recovery of PML-N chief. He has also told the media that the premier recited Holy Quran’s verses before entering the operation theatre.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Nawaz Sharif is like his father who has always encouraged him in every walk of life.

According to Prime Minister’s spokesman Musaddiq Malik, decision of PM Nawaz’s return to country will be made after consultation with his medical practitioners.

Earlier, world leaders have prayed for the complete and speedy recovery of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from his heart surgery.

In their separate messages, they expressed their heartfelt sympathies and wishes for his fast recuperation.

These leaders include Russian President Vladimir Putin, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, and British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has telephoned Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in London and conveyed his best wishes for a successful heart surgery and speediest recovery.

Nawaz Sharif has been under tremendous pressure from opposition parties to step down since his family members were named in the mass leak of offshore account data from the Panama firm Mossack Fonseca. The opposition has joined hands to hold unbiased probe into the matter.
