London: PM Nawaz to undergo open heart surgery on Tuesday
Many notable politicians expressed solidarity with ailing PM and prayed for his speedy recovery.
LONDON (Dunya News / Reuters) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif will undergo open heart surgery in London on Tuesday while he has also been advised to remain hospitalised for two weeks after the operation, reported on Saturday.
It will be Sharif’s second heart operation in five years.
Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif confirmed the information on micro-blogging website Twitter.

Maryam Nawaz has said that the premier had a cardiac procedure called Atrial Fibrillation Ablation in 2011, during which certain complications occurred resulting in the perforation of heart.

She said that the medical team has conducted several tests and scans to identify the problem after which, the doctors have advised to go for open heart surgery.

PM’s son Hassan Nawaz, who is also in London, also said that the doctors gave blood thinning medicines to Nawaz Sharif while he will be in Intensive Care Unit for special treatment before the surgery.
PM Nawaz Sharif, who arrived in London on May 22, would travel back to Pakistan only when doctors permit him.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Nerendra Modi took to the Twitter and posted his best wishes to Nawaz Sharif.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan also prayed for the best health and speedy recovery of the PM.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appealed the entire nation to pray for the successful surgery of the premier.

On the other hand, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will look after the government affairs in PM’s absence.
Earlier on April 13, Nawaz Sharif reached London for medical checkup. During the visit, his blood samples were taken at the hospital while other tests were also made.
Nawaz Sharif has been under tremendous pressure from opposition parties to step down since his family members were named in the mass leak of offshore account data from the Panama firm Mossack Fonseca. The opposition has joined hands to hold unbiased probe into the matter.

According to the representative of the Prime Minister House, PM Nawaz Sharif himself is bearing all expenses related to his medical treatment and no money is being taken from the national treasury. PM is being kept aware of all the developments in the country as he is in contact with the federal ministers and other affiliated officials.
PM s Principal and Military secretaries are facilitating him whereas no domestic affairs are being delayed or left pending. PM House representative stated that PM Nawaz shall keep serving as Chief Executive even after his heart surgery.
The fee of his doctors along with that of his medical tests and the expenses for his stay in England, all relevant expenditures are being borne by his family.
