Pakistan faced total loss of Rs 100 billion on single IMF transaction due to declining economy: Dar

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - During the pre-budget seminar arranged by Dunya News Network, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar criticised government over poor economic policies and its requirement of extended loans from International Monetary Fund (IMF), reported Dunya News on Thursday.

Asad Umar said that if things did not change, the government would be in an even difficult situation and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar along with his government would have to take an initiative for fundamental reforms to make things move to the right track. He said that the government needed to have an overview of its taxation policies.

On the other hand, Ishaq Dar said that the economy would have stayed on stable position, Chinese president s visit would have been more helpful and OGDC transactions could have occurred, had the sit-ins and protests not taken place.

He added that Pakistan had faced a total loss of Rs 100 billion on a single IMF transaction due to the damage that the sit-ins had inflicted upon Pakistan s economy and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) got delayed for one year due to sit-ins.

He said that he had offered to make an amendment to the law, which would be based on better economic plans and improvement in national GDP from 2016 to 2030.

He said that he had already presented a plan called Charter of Economy according to which government would fix things in a way that economic targets would achieve in the late 2030s.
