Gerard Ryle has said that he did not offer apology as PMs name appeared in the Panama Papers.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) Journalists – a global union which exposed ownership of offshore companies by publishing Panama Papers – has termed ‘The News’ story baseless and said that ICIJ offered no apology for wrongly naming PM Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers.

Irish journalist Gerard Ryle has explained in his email that ICIJ did not offer apology as PM Nawaz name appeared in Panama Papers. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s name was included in the news stories based on Panama Papers due to editing mistake.

ICIJ has removed the Prime Minister’s name from the Panama Papers and has further clarified that PM Nawaz does not operate any offshore companies and that his name in the Panama Papers was added as the result of an editing mistake on the basis of which it appeared on the website.
